  2. a warrant as a Perit issued in accordance with the Periti Act, Chapter 622 of the Laws of Malta or
  3. a qualification deemed by Senate, on the recommendation of the Board, to be equivalent to the qualification listed in (a) above.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Real Estate Valuations and Investments is designed to formally introduce you to industry standards in preparation of property valuations. Novel construction methods have made sustainable buildings possible, thus a future in valuations means ESG considerations will be part of the appraisal process if property owners and occupants are to benefit economically. This course aims to introduce you to a range of concepts and techniques in valuing buildings, recognising which development reduces energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the real estate sector; implementing strategies to effectively address physical and transitional risks that could affect investment returns and decision-making. A properly executed valuation will allow the you to understand the value of their immovable property whilst mitigating long-term risks if allowed to incorporate environmental strategies. You will appraise buildings according to international standards and local codes, whilst being able to define and apply an understanding of laws on property, civil code and all other matters related.

This programme of study is governed by the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2021 and by the Bye-Laws for the Postgraduate Diploma in Real Estate Valuations and Investments - P.G. Dip. - under the auspices of the Faculty for the Built Environment.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Characterise the importance of valuations and the impact of valuations on the country's economy.
  • Appraise buildings according to international standards or/and local codes
  • Define and apply an understanding of laws on property, civil code, EU law, ownership and possession, legal interests and all others matters law related.
  • Review the various ESG issues and principles present today in the business world and assess the risks resulting from ESG issues.
  • Explore the range of tools and techniques of financial investments, investment portfolio for construction and management projects.
  • Solve Real Estate investment problems by finding, analysing, summarising, and commenting on selected investment models.
